  7. The MSDOS port of NetHack supports some additional or enhanced commands
  8. as well as some NetHack.cnf file options specific to configuration choices 
  9. used during the building of PC NetHack.  Listed below are those commands
  10. and NetHack.cnf file options.

  12. Recognized MSDOS specific NetHack.cnf entries are outlined below.

  15. Compound options available under MSDOS if using internal screen routines
  16. (NO_TERMS was defined during the compile):
  17.  
  18.         videoshades             May be specified to override the default 
  19.                                 gray intensity mapping for the following 
  20.                                 shades of gray (listed in the required 
  21.                                 order): black gray white
  22.                                 The choices for mapping to each shade of 
  23.                                 gray are: dark, normal, or light. 
  24.                                 Default: videoshades = dark normal light
  25.  
  26.         videocolors             May be specified to override the default 
  27.                                 color map used by the internal screen 
  28.                                 management routines in the following 
  29.                                 order: red green brown blue magenta cyan 
  30.                                        orange bright_green yellow bright_blue 
  31.                                        bright_magenta bright_cyan

  33.                                   videocolors = 4 2 6 1 5 3 12 10 14 9 13 11

  37.         IBMgraphics             Use IBM extended characters for the dungeon

  44.         rawio                   Allow the use of raw I/O (may only be set

  49. The following options are NOT currently recognized under the MSDOS
  50. port of PC NetHack:

  52.         LEVELS=                 Where to store/create per level
  53.                                 data files.
  54.         SAVE=                   Where to save games.
  55.         BONES=                  Where to store bones files.
  56.         RAMDISK=                Where your RAM disk is (driver letter).

  58. MSDOS Additional/Enhanced Commands:

  60. While playing NetHack under MSDOS you can press the ALT key in combination 
  61. with another key to execute an extended command as an alternative method
  62. to pressing the # key combination:
  63.  
  64. Alt-a    adjust    - adjust inventory letters.
  65. Alt-c    chat      - talk to someone.
  66. Alt-d    dip       - dip an object into something.
  67. Alt-f    force     - force a lock.
  68. Alt-i    invoke    - invoke an object's powers.
  69. Alt-j    jump      - jump to a location.
  70. Alt-l    loot      - loot a box on the floor.
  71. Alt-m    monster   - use a monster's special ability.
  72. Alt-n    name      - name an item or type of object.
  73. Alt-o    offer     - offer a sacrifice to the gods.
  74. Alt-p    pray      - pray to the gods for help.
  75. Alt-r    rub       - rub a lamp.
  76. Alt-s    sit       - sit down.
  77. Alt-t    turn      - turn undead.
  78. Alt-u    untrap    - untrap something.
  79. Alt-v    version   - list compile time options for this version of NetHack.
  80. Alt-w    wipe      - wipe off your face.
  81. Alt-?    ?         - get this list of extended commands.
